Jesus stayed the course.
He’d set His face like flint,
Determined to complete this task for us,
Eternity to win.
He wore a crown of thorns and
He claimed He was a King.
They mocked Him without mercy and
In all of that, He did not sin.
He cried out, “Why have You forsaken Me?”
Directly to His Father.
But He had to feel all of our pain.
Abuse, betrayal, rejection, He endured the same.
The earth had shaken, the sun was dark,
The thunder rolled; the veil torn apart.
No one denied a God that night
They scattered everywhere in fright.
Three days had passed since He breathed His last,
While nailed upon the tree.
He gave His life as a sacrifice
He suffered all the sins of you and me.
How can this be,
This man died for me?
How could He love that much,
Someone, He hasn’t even touched?
But He called my name, He took my shame
Before I even knew Him.
I was to blame, yet;
He paid in full every punishment was due me.
Who was this man so long ago,
That knew me even then?
He has spoken to my heart without a sound.
Yet somehow, I have heard Him.
Within that time, He’d won the fight
And changed the atmosphere.
Stormed the gates of Hell, seized the keys;
And paraded captives up to heaven’s stratosphere!
Three days in hell, the devils camp,
He led the grand procession.
He sealed the deal forevermore;
His name requires confession.
The faithful women came in mourning
Not yet knowing of the victory.
The stone was rolled away, the body gone.
The grave clothes folded so neatly.
Then they saw the Angel,
His light was bright and glorious!
Their hearts rejoiced with hope,
They knew Jesus was victorious!
The price He paid to see us saved
Is way beyond our comprehension.
How the whole world’s sins,
Even me and my kin, could possibly be taken?
But He was fully God and fully man,
No one can be His equal.
Let Him be resurrected in your heart
And be of a chosen people.
