Friends and Comrades, Recent polling indicates primary voters are ready to support Bernie Sanders’ run for the Presidency. He has the lead in Iowa, three points over Joe Biden. He has the lead in New Hampshire with double the amount over Biden. His unwavering support of a reconfigured Medicare, Medicare for All, which provides a truly all-encompassing low cost health care plan for every American, is very popular. He will also fight for a Green New Deal to provide low-cost renewable energy and jobs, and more importantly, keep our planet habitable. Plus, a free college tuition program to keep the worker bees out of debt while they train to turn the world around. Bernie has been endorsed by many congressional leaders, and several unions. He inspires many. We Twin Ports DSA members are among them and working now to get the word out. We invite you to join us in supporting Bernie Sanders and encourage people to get out and vote early for Bernie in the Minnesota Primary beginning January 17, 2020. If you live in the City of Duluth, you can vote NOW at the City Clerk’s office at City Hall (Rm 330). If you don’t live in the city you can early vote at your County Court House. The actual primary will be on March 3rd, then you can vote at your usual polling place if you didn’t vote earlier. The Wisconsin Primary is April 7. Like to mix some fun in with your Politics? Like music and Bernie? We have a deal for you, 5 Bernie- loving musical groups will be playing at The Duluth Flame (28 N 1st Ave W) on Thursday Feb 6. Music will begin at 6pm and will go until 10pm. Like she did in 2016, Jnana Hand has inspired “Music for a revolution: a live music event to promote Bernie Sanders”. The groups are donating their talents to this fundraising (voluntary donations for band gas money and promotional expenses to us) and get out the vote early event. Twin Ports DSA is the proud sponsor of this event. We will have locally produced buttons and “Twin Ports for Bernie” bumper stickers available. Parking should not be too much of a problem, besides parking on the streets, there is a parking lot just west of 1st Ave W on First St. Also, there is a large ramp about a block east at the corner Lake Ave, and First St. Enter that ramp from First St. Our organization will not be hosting a debate watch party for the Feb 7 Debate. Our monthly meetings are every 4th Sunday from 4-6pm at the Central Hillside Community Center (12 E 4th St, Duluth) Anyone is welcome to attend and if you decide to join, dues are minimal.
