Democracy Summer has been the heart and soul of Congressman Jamie Raskin’s campaigns since he first entered politics. Now, Team Schrier is thrilled to be a part of this program’s expansion as one of nearly 60 partner campaigns throughout the country.

Scholars will participate in state-of-the-art educational sessions with extraordinary seminars hosted by top scholars, organizers, and leaders from across the country!

Dear team:

I am proud to announce that my campaign will once again be participating as a partner in the 2023 National Democracy Summer School! This one-of-a-kind Democratic program was founded by Congressman Jamie Raskin and expanded across the country in an historic partnership with the DCCC. Democracy Summer School is dedicated to training and educating the next generation of political activists and visionary leaders.

As part of this initiative, I will be nominating dedicated high school and college students to join me as Team Schrier Scholars! As a fellow, you will be trained as organizers and activists with my re-election campaign in Washington's 8th District, and will also have access to an online curriculum.

This virtual six-week program will take place from Monday, June 26, 2023 - Monday, August 7, 2023 and requires a commitment of about 4 hours per week. We’ll host live educational sessions with political leaders and facilitate in-depth discussions and activities over Zoom.

Past Democracy Summer speakers have included House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the late Rep. John Lewis, and other distinguished speakers and experts in their field.

In 2018, grassroots activism helped us flip Washington's 8th District blue for the first time ever, and it helped us keep it blue in 2020 and 2022. As organizers and volunteer activists with our campaign, you'll host at least one voter registration or voter education event in collaboration with other participants. You'll also have the opportunity to attend a meeting with me and my entire campaign staff!
