URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Stop the USDA from supporting greedy corporations that hurt people, animals, and the planet!

You might have grown up being fed fairy-tale images of farms. Green rolling pastures where cows roam, mud pits where pigs joyfully slide around, and seed-littered dirt that chickens peck at for food.

While this may be true of small, local, and sustainable farms, the reality is that most meat and dairy products come from inhumane, filthy, large-scale factory farms. Pregnant mother pigs are often kept in metal cages, unable to turn around. Chickens are wedged into cages so small they can’t even spread their wings. This is only some of what mega meat corporations don’t want you to know about their factory-farming practices.

These filthy factory farms can be breeding grounds for viruses that spread like wildfire. Already in the U.S., the bird flu has killed more than 70 million birds since 2020. Some infectious disease experts even believe the next pandemic could originate from these crowded, unsanitary factory farms.

Please, Friend, demand the USDA stop funding factory farms and prioritize public health over corporate profits by 11:59pm TONIGHT!

To make matters worse, factory farms generate HARMFUL CONTAMINANTS that pollute the air, soil and water of nearby communities. And these risks are especially heightened for rural, Black, Brown, Indigenous, and low-income communities.

The corporate meat and dairy industries are endangering public health, degrading the environment, and abusing helpless animals. Worse, instead of being held accountable for these transgressions, these companies RECEIVE taxpayer SUPPORT FROM THE USDA! Friend, we need at least 1 of every 7 people reading this email to take action to help us reach our goal. Protect people, the environment, and animals from factory farm greed!

Standing with you,
Kari Hamerschlag
Deputy director of food and agriculture,
