"If it is a matter of strength, he is mighty! And if it is a matter of justice, who can challenge him?"
– Job 9:19
Africa & Europe
Last week the Ghana-based Global Survivor Network leader traveled to meet with directors from the Department of Social Welfare. They discussed plans to launch a new chapter of the survivor network in their region. The Global Survivor Network creates initiatives to bring survivors together to identify advocacy opportunities, providing training in storytelling and a platform to influence governments, voters and policymakers. The groups also provide a safe and supportive environment for survivors to learn from and help one another. Pray for the launch of this new group later in the year, for it to be a safe and encouraging space for survivors to powerfully share their stories and influence the changes they want to see.
Latin America
Praise God for the opportunity to partner with a government agency in La Paz, Bolivia to create a safe space for survivors that ensures privacy and avoids re-victimization when being interviewed. Two weeks ago, the Plurinational Victim Assistance Service (SEPDAVI), a government agency that provides legal and psychological support to victims of violence, inaugurated its first Gesell Chamber in the country with the support of IJM. Pray that the survivors who use this space will feel safe to share their stories.
South Asia
Praise God for a survivor-run textiles business that continues to expand and see success. These talented survivors of trafficking make beautiful crafts and block-printed household goods. They have been able to present their work at several local business conferences, which has opened more doors for working with the local government and getting more orders. Pray these women and men can continue creating with joy and that their small business brings stability and strength to their families.
Asia Pacific
Praise God for the just sentencing of five women guilty of online sexual exploitation of children in the Philippines. These women pled guilty to attempted trafficking nearly three years after their arrest, and each faces a maximum of 15 years in prison. To date, IJM has supported Philippine authorities in the conviction of more than 180 perpetrators for offenses related to the online sexual exploitation of children. Please continue to join us in prayer for the work of IJM in the Philippines.
IJM Global Office & Partners
The IJM global office is located in the United States. IJM has Partner Offices in Australia, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, South Korea, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Please join us in praying for the Dallas Justice Gathering on April 13! This annual event is one of our biggest donor events of the year. Please pray that God will bring the right people to the room, and those that in attendance would be moved by the speakers.
The updates we share on survivors or their cases can become sensitive over time. To respect and protect
them, please refrain from posting these prayer requests online.
