Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Travel Minnesota to Highlight Child Care Plan

This week, Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan hit the road to highlight their child care plan, which would lower the cost of child care by thousands for middle-class families across the state.?On Thursday, Governor Walz visited the Head Start center in Ely.

On Friday, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan visited Love and Learn Child Care Academy in St. Cloud to discuss how their child care plan would increase child care access and affordability.?

"I often say: The biggest raise I ever received was the day my daughter started kindergarten ? but it doesn?t have to be this way," said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan. "By providing families with up to $10,500 a year for child care costs, our budget makes child care more accessible and affordable."

Moorhead

Also on Friday, Governor Walz visited the Public Library center in Moorhead to discuss how investments in child care are investments in the future of our state.?

"Whether you live in Moorhead, on the Iron Range, or in the metro, our child care plan addresses a wide variety of needs to lower costs for families by thousands, drive workforce development, and make Minnesota the best place for kids to grow up in," said Governor Walz.?


Governor Walz Meets with President Zelenskyy

Governor Walz joined a call with a bipartisan group of governors and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy?on Tuesday to express support for Ukraine.

?Minnesota stands with Ukraine,? said Governor Walz. ?It was an honor to hear from President Zelenskyy firsthand and offer him our unwavering support. Minnesota is a proud home to many Ukrainian families, and we will continue to welcome and support Ukrainian refugees in our state.?


Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Highlight Urgent Need for Infrastructure Bill

In Ely, Governor Walz toured Minnesota North College's Vermillion Campus to see proposed improvements that would be funded by the Governor?s?Infrastructure Plan.

"The infrastructure bill sitting on the Senate floor is filled with projects like this from across the state. To Senate Republicans: Minnesotans are ready for solutions," said Governor Walz.

Lieutenant Governor Flanagan visited the Great River Children?s Museum in St. Cloud to discuss growth and expansion projects.?

"Projects like the new Great River Children's Museum make our communities stronger for our kids and families. To Senate Republicans: The infrastructure bill sitting on the Senate floor is about people, not politics. Let?s get this done," said the Lieutenant Governor.?

Governor Walz visits flood site

While in Moorhead, the Governor also discussed flood mitigation efforts with city leaders at Horn Park.?

"Investing in infrastructure is about Minnesota?s quality of life and economic success. With funding from my infrastructure plan, we can make Moorhead more resilient to flooding?? and create good-paying jobs in the process," said Governor Walz.

While in Tower, Governor Walz visited Lammpa Manufacturing, a family-owned business.?

"Businesses like Lammpa Manufacturing show the world why Minnesota is one of the best, most competitive states to live, work, and raise a family," said Governor Walz. "Our One Minnesota Budget builds on this success investing in small businesses across the state."
