"Texas judge suspends FDA approval of abortion pill mifepristone"
— The Washington Post
Team, this is devastating. A Trump-appointed judge in Texas just issued a ruling demanding mifepristone — an abortion pill — be pulled off the market.
Mifepristone was approved by the FDA more than 20 years ago and has been used by more than 5 million women in the United States. Now, it could take years to restart the approval process, effectively ending our right to safe, non-surgical abortions if the Texas judge's ruling goes into effect.
Ohio Democrats will always stand alongside the majority of Americans and Ohioans who firmly believe that access to reproductive health care is a fundamental right. That's why we proudly endorsed a commonsense reproductive rights ballot initiative that could enshrine the right to reproductive freedom into our state constitution.
Team, now more than ever, it's crucial that we do all we can to defend access to reproductive care in Ohio. If you can afford it, please chip in $5 right away to fuel our signature-gathering efforts to put reproductive rights on the ballot.
