Holy Week
As we move toward the end of Holy Week, a most sacred week on the Judeo-Christian calendar, we turn our collective attention to the opportunity for redemption and a pathway to eternal life in Heaven. That we know there is a God and that we are his children should drive us all to a better understanding of what it means to forgive and to be forgiven. We hope and we pray this Holy Week brings you closer to your Maker and to eternal life.

Women in Sports Bill
In a shocking failure, Kansas Democrat Governor Laura Kelly vetoed a bill specifically written to protect Kansas women and girls. Our Republican led Kansas House of Representatives and Kansas Senate had to override Kelly’s veto. This demonstration of true Republican leadership is a shining example of the great things we can accomplish when we work together. It also exemplifies the best of Kansas Republicans who take great pride in the responsibility of protecting women and girls. Our female Governor shockingly showed us she isn’t interested in protecting Kansas’ women and girls.
That’s unacceptable and an embarrassment for all Kansans.
Kansas Legislature Approves State Run Presidential Primary for March 19, 2024
This week the Kansas Legislature approved a state-funded Presidential Primary Election on March 19, 2024. The Kansas Secretary of State is now responsible for coordinating and administering this specialty election. This option allows politically affiliated Kansans the opportunity to cast their vote at a location much closer to them than possible with other election options. This addresses the high priority of making voting more convenient. Thank you to leadership and members of the Kansas Legislature for your vote on this important concern to many Republicans and Kansans. Onward to 2024!
KSGOP Standing Committee Appointments
KSGOP Chairman Mike Brown announced today the following Kansas Republicans have been named to KSGOP Standing Committees posts. Each Congressional District Chair was asked by Chairman Brown for nominations to be considered for the Rules, Platform and Resolutions Committees.
“Please join me in congratulating, thanking and welcoming these amazing volunteers who are generously giving of their time, talent and treasure to serve our party, making it ever stronger,” said Chairman Brown.
Below are the final committee selection assignments.
Budget Committee
The Budget Committee shall be comprised of the Officers of the State Committee (as defined by Article VII(A) of the Kansas Republican Party Constitution) along with one additional member appointed by the state chair.
The state chair shall appoint one of the members as chair.
The committee shall be responsible for the preparation of a draft budget for each year to be approved by the Executive Committee and after approval shall provide oversight to ensure that expenditure limitations contained in the budget are met.

Resolutions Committee
The state chair shall appoint a Resolutions Committee comprised of at least two (2) and no more than three (3) members per Congressional District.
The state chair shall have the authority to appoint the chair of the committee and to set rules governing the committee not in conflict with these bylaws.
Proposed resolutions, other than memorial, may be no more than three hundred (300) words long and must be submitted to State Party Headquarters and/or the chair of the Resolutions Committee at least thirty (30) days before the nearest scheduled state committee meeting.
The resolutions committee may
(i) Approve a proposed resolution and pass it to the state committee for a vote,
(ii) Amend a proposed resolution and pass the amended resolution to the state committee for a vote, or
(iii) Reject a proposed resolution, in which case a two-thirds vote of the state committee is necessary for the proposed resolution to be put before the state committee for a vote.
Action by the Resolutions Committee shall be distributed to all members and alternate members of the state committee at least ten (10) days before the state committee meeting.
Resolutions not received by State Party Headquarters and/or the chair of the Resolutions Committee at least thirty (30) days before the scheduled state committee meeting may be considered by the Resolutions Committee in advance of the closest scheduled state committee meeting or held for a future meeting upon an affirmative majority vote of all Resolutions Committee members, whether present or not.
If the Resolutions Committee decides to take action on a proposal submitted after the deadline they are empowered to recommend, modify or recommend rejection of any resolution and shall provide copies of their action to all members and alternate members of the state committee at the earliest possible time.
Resolutions may be proposed by any member of the state committee, by any county or district Republican party, any standing or special state party committee or by any auxiliary Republican organization.

Rules Committee
The state chair shall appoint a rules committee comprised of at least two (2) and no more than three (3) members per Congressional District.
The state chair shall have the authority to appoint the chair of the committee and to set rules governing the committee which are not in conflict with these bylaws.
The Rules Committee shall be responsible for drafting rules for all state committee meetings, recommending alterations to the bylaws and constitution and drafting other rules as requested by the state chair, executive or state committee.
The committee shall be vested with the authority to resolve all rules disputes and questions, and to ensure adherence to all party rules and, if requested, issue opinions or interpretations of rules.

Platform Committee
The state chair shall appoint a platform committee comprised of at least two (2) and no more than four (4) members per Congressional District.
The state chair shall have the authority to appoint the chair of the committee and to set rules governing the committee which are not in conflict with these bylaws.
The committee shall draft a party platform in accordance with Article 4(F).
Said platform must be submitted to all members of the state committee by first class postage or by e-mail, if available, a minimum of fourteen (14) days before consideration by the state committee.
