We won some major pro-choice victories this week when voters in Wisconsin elected Judge Janet Protasiewicz to the state supreme court and when Gov. Gretchen Whitmer overturned Michigan’s century-old abortion ban.

Unfortunately, we also got some bad news: The governor of neighboring Idaho signed legislation banning minors from traveling out of state for abortions and making it a felony to assist those minors in obtaining abortion care.

We knew these types of bans were coming as soon as the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade , but we need to fight back. Sign on to call on Congress to protect patients who must travel to access reproductive care: [[link removed]]

Immediately following the Dobbs decision, pro-choice states like Washington experienced an influx of out-of-state patients. That’s why I quickly demanded clarity from the Department of Justice on potential federal actions to protect patients and providers – regardless of where a patient comes from.

Idahoans are our neighbors, and as one of their nearest blue-state options to escape anti-choice extremism in their state, we must stand with them and protect their fundamental right to reproductive health care.
