If there's anywhere in the world that should be safe for wildlife, you'd expect it to be our wildlife refuges.

But in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the wildlife that rely on it are in danger as the Trump administration moves to open the land to oil drilling.1

That's why we're calling on Colorado's attorney general to sue the Trump administration if it proceeds with its slapdash proposal to open the entirety of the Arctic Refuge's coastal plain to drilling.

Tell our attorney general to stand up to the Trump administration and protect Arctic wildlife.

As the seasonal ice thaws each year, the Arctic Refuge's coastal plain teams with life. More than 200,000 porcupine caribou migrate to their spring calving grounds. Birds from all 50 states summer on the plain, and in the colder months, the ice and snow provide dens for polar bears.2,3,4

Wildlife refuges should be just that -- areas where animals can roam free, protected from human threats. If the Trump administration is successful in opening the coastal plain to oil drilling, there could be irreversible damage for the populations of birds, bears and caribou that depend on the refuge.

Tell Colorado's attorney general: Stand up for Arctic wildlife.

We should be doing all that we can to protect wildlife and slow climate change, not continue to use old destructive methods to continue burning fossil fuels.

Together, we've sent thousands of messages to Congress to protect the refuge, and Environment Colorado and our national network plan to sue the Trump administration for moving full steam ahead with its reckless plan to open the refuge. We're working to stop the destruction before it begins, it's time Colorado does too.
