Hey John!

Believe it or not, we’re already approaching the end of the 2023 legislative session here in Maryland. Time flies when you’re having fun, AND getting a lot of good work done for the people of Maryland.

Here are just a few of my favorite moments from this legislative session:

For this transportation engineer, it was great to join U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Amtrak CEO Stephen Gardner for their announcement of a $4 billion investment for the Frederick Douglass Tunnel, which will create 30,000 jobs in Maryland. We’re all aboard for this partnership!

While abortion rights are being rolled back in conservative states across the nation, I’m proud to stand with Wes, Speaker Adrienne Jones, and other legislative partners in defending Marylanders’ reproductive freedom by working to enshrine abortion access in our state constitution.

As a transportation engineer by trade, it has always been a priority to provide more environmentally conscious solutions for our growing transportation needs, which is why I was proud to testify in support of the Clean Transportation and Energy Act (HB 550).

Maryland is the wealthiest state in the nation, but 1 in 8 children live in poverty. The Family Prosperity Act, the Moore-Miller Administration’s vision to end childhood poverty, will permanently extend the Earned Income Tax Credit and expand the Child Tax Credit to support our families.

In March, we painted the town green in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day in Annapolis. Wes and I had a great time with with the
Maryland State Fireman’s Association, kids, families, and canines!

I proudly cheered on University of Maryland’s Terps throughout March Madness, and was thrilled to meet a fellow Miller! Our Maryland teams made us proud this March.

It was a pleasure to attend the 38th Annual Women’s History Month Luncheon hosted by Prince George’s County Angela Alsobrooks with First Lady Dawn Moore and Comptroller Brooke Lierman to celebrate public servants and scholarship recipients who embody Congresswoman Spellman’s commitment to service and excellence.

Well… you get it. I could go on and on sharing photos of fun moments and achievements we’ve had over the last few months!

I can’t wait for Wes to sign the many bills that our friends in the legislature have passed or will pass in these final few days in order to lift up every Marylander and move our state forward.

The work continues!

Thanks for being part of our movement,

Aruna
