Dear Friend,
The daily news out of our state capitol is atrocious. Not only is the Republican-controlled legislature fast-tracking a near-total abortion ban, they're recklessly using their power to silence our opposition. During testimony, as women were telling their personal stories, Republican legislators interrupted and cut off speakers, demonstrating gross disrespect for the women themselves and the entire process. During peaceful protests, two of our female leaders were senselessly arrested. This is antithetical to our democracy. Governor DeSantis and his Republican allies care nothing about the people of Florida and the issues we are facing.
In stark contrast, we've seen Democratic women leaders in the legislature time and again champion the issues that matter to the majority of Floridians, while fighting on the front lines to defend our rights. It's why we must stay true to our mission to elect Democratic pro-choice women to state and local office. Will you join me in honoring our Democratic women in the House and Senate by making a donation to Ruth's List, so we can continue recruiting, training, and electing leaders who will put the health and safety of Floridians first?
We've always known changing the political calculus in Florida is a long-term strategy. It may take years to build the bench, but we have to start investing in our future today. We can't do this alone, we need your help. We may not stop this abortion ban, but we will never stop fighting to elect leaders who will protect our reproductive freedom. Join us in this fight. Onward, |

Congratulations to Donna Deegan on making the May 16th runoff for Jacksonville Mayor. If elected, Donna would make history as the first woman to lead Florida's largest city. We know she has the experience and tenacity to win this race and flip this seat blue in May, but she needs our help to get there! Donate here or by clicking the graphic below.

Kate Connolly for Mayor of New Port Richey
Ruth’s List is proud to endorse Kate Connolly in her campaign for Mayor of New Port Richey. If elected, Kate would be the first openly gay woman to serve as the city's mayor. Her election is also critical to keeping this seat in Democratic hands. Donate here to her campaign and let's do all we can to make sure she wins on April 11th.

Cassidy Whitaker, Political Director
Cassidy has worked in nearly every aspect of political campaigns for Democratic candidates at the local, state, and congressional level. Most recently, she was the campaign manager for former State Representative Andrew Learned’s 2022 re-election campaign, one of the most competitive and expensive state house races in 2022. She worked on former Chair of the Hillsborough County Commission Kimberly Overman’s first campaign for office in 2018, served as a district and legislative aide in the Florida House of Representatives for former State Representative Adam Hattersley, and was a part of Florida-based Statecraft Digital, where she helped manage the paid digital communications for over a dozen down-ballot candidates in Florida and Michigan.
