I'm very proud of two votes we took yesterday in the House to reassert our Constitutional authority regarding any declarations of war that risks American lives and our national security.

These bills do two things:
1. Blocks the Trump administration from using any federal funds for unauthorized military force against Iran, unless the President is responding to an imminent threat.

2. Repeals the 2002 law that authorized the Iraq war, which has been used as justification for other U.S. military actions since then.

The U.S. Constitution is clear: no President should be able to go to war without Congressional approval.

Preventing future conflict with Iran and other hostile nations, and ensuring any war-making authority remains with the House of Representatives are top issues for me and my constituents.

We cannot support or afford more endless wars.

Jim
