Greetings, It was a beautiful week to be home in Jersey. Congressman Kim enjoyed visits across the district speaking with small business owners, local police officers, and neighbors doing incredible work and service for our community. Chag Pesach Sameach to all our neighbors who gathered around the Seder table this Wednesday to celebrate Passover. We also wish everyone celebrating Easter this weekend a happy and blessed Sunday with friends and family! As always, we hope you find these updates and resources helpful, more next week! Congressman Kim Reintroduces Mandatory FDA Recall Bill to Protect Consumers from Unsafe Prescription and Over-the-Counter Medicines Right now, the FDA does not have mandatory recall authority for prescription and over-the-counter drugs. Congressman Kim reintroduced his Protecting Americans from Unsafe Drugs Act to allow the FDA to protect Americans from defective medicines if they need to, like they can with food and cosmetics, and not saddle the cost of a recall on local businesses. The bill’s name says it all and would help ensure companies prioritize safety and protect local businesses and pharmacies from being on the hook paying for someone else’s mistake. Read more about the legislation here. Weekend Recap! To kick-off last weekend, Congressman Kim joined Hamilton Police officers for their “Coffee with a Cop” in recognition of Autism Awareness Day. All of April is Autism Awareness Month and the event was great to bring first responders and neighbors together over a shared commitment to uplift our community and keep each other safe and healthy. Congressman Kim also visited Autism New Jersey this week to speak about continued efforts to support community members with autism and open up the world further for everyone! | Saturday evening, Congressman Kim was honored to help commemorate Ramadan at an Iftar with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community at the Al-Nasr Mosque. As the holy month continues, we wish Muslims in New Jersey a continued peaceful and easy fast. | On Sunday, the Congressman joined Fountain of Life’s Sunday service two weeks after their church’s tragic fire. It was an opportunity to reflect on the strength of the community who’ve come together to support one another through this challenging time and to thank the 150+ firefighters who put out the flames and prevented more destruction. | Let’s Roll…Over to Cinnaholic in Marlton! We are excited to not have to drive quite as far to Cinnaholic now that a Marlton location has opened! This week, Congressman Kim helped welcome them to our local business community and get in on the dough rolling action. Check out the baking process yourself for a sweet treat today and thank you again to the team for the fun visit! | Safety First, Congressman Kim Visits NJ American Water Facilities The safety of our New Jersey water is everything. The recent scare from a spill in the Delaware River only highlighted this. Congressman Kim visited New Jersey American Water this week to continue their conversations about how to always ensure safety is the top priority. Congressman Kim is committed to working together to ensure clean, safe, and healthy water is open to everyone in New Jersey. He secured historic investments to our water infrastructure last year and thanks to the bipartisan infrastructure law, huge investments are coming to New Jersey for drinking water infrastructure upgrades. Congratulations PNE on your Federal Grant! Congressman Kim joined community leaders and Princeton NuEnergy this weekend in Bordentown to celebrate their new federal grant. PNE does incredible work to deliver clean-tech and re-imagine clean energy and the grant will help expand their work even further to boost American manufacturing, combat climate change with reduced waste, and lower CO2 emissions! | Congressman Kim Visits Bell Works to Talk About How it Works for New Jersey Congressman Kim enjoyed a visit to Bell Works this week, a one-of-a-kind space in Holmdel. From hosting terrific businesses to creative spaces, the building is full of innovation, including a Photovoltaic ceiling that powers 20% of its energy. It is an incredible place to experience. | Congressman Kim Joins a Class at Kiddie Academy of Delran When we invest in New Jersey’s early childhood education, we are investing in a kid's lifelong success! Congressman Kim was glad to visit students and teachers at the Kiddie Academy of Delran and spoke about this commitment to supporting our youngest learners and the incredible educators who work everyday to help them grow and learn. | Congressman Kim Visits Evergreen Farm in Hamilton Just a few minutes from our Hamilton office, Congressman Kim visited Evergreen Orchard Farm and spoke about the unique needs of local farms, including the impact of the shifting climate on the amount of rainfall they get. Fun fact about the farm, they grow products, including Asian pears, in arches so that a tractor can drive through. Normally, workers would have to readjust ladders. Thanks for the visit! | Congressman Kim Joins NJ PBS to Discuss his Support for Bipartisan Policies Congressman Kim joined Steve Adubato and NJ PBS to talk about his goals on the China Select Committee, aims for the Congressional Dads Caucus, and how bipartisanship can help us confront our biggest challenges.
