Just announced: FY 2023 NICS Act Record Improvement Program solicitation [ [link removed] ]

BJS seeks applications for administering the fiscal year 2023 National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) Act Record Improvement Program (NARIP). This program furthers the DOJ?s mission by enhancing the completeness, automation, and transmittal of records to state and federal systems used by the NICS. Eligible states and tribes may receive grant funding to make such improvements.

Applications will be submitted in a two-step process, each with its own deadline:


* Step 1: Submit an SF-424 and an SF-LLL in Grants.gov [ [link removed] ]. *Grants.gov forms are due on June 7, 2023, by 8:59 p.m. ET.*
* Step 2*:* Submit the full application including attachments in JustGrants.usdoj.gov [ [link removed] ]. *The full JustGrants application is due on **June 14, 2023, by 8:59 p.m. ET.

Just announced: FY 2023 Annual Survey of Jails in Indian Country, 2024?27 solicitation [ [link removed] ]

BJS seeks applications for funding for the fiscal year 2023 Annual Survey of Jails in Indian Country, 2024?27. This program will gather critical criminal justice data from tribal jails to produce annual estimates of jail population size and characteristics, including 1-day custody counts, sex and age composition, conviction status, most serious offense, average daily population, admissions, releases, and turnover rates. It will also collect data on facility characteristics, including capacity to hold inmates and staffing. This award covers data collection and analysis activities for reference years 2024 through 2027, as well as survey research and development.
