Donald Trump faced faced arrest this week—but the fight for a healthy democracy is an ongoing fight that never lets up. That’s why we’ve spent the past week pushing for the transparency and accountability Americans deserve, in more ways than one.

We provided new CREW analysis and commentary, including on NPR.

- Our President Noah Bookbinder was a guest on NPR’s On Point to talk about how our democracy is under the threat of lawmakers supporting insurrectionists, and discussed efforts toward accountability and mitigating violence in the aftermath of the insurrection.

- Our Chief Counsel Donald Sherman wrote an op-ed published in HuffPost explaining that while his indictment does not necessarily disqualify Trump from running for president, his central role in the January 6th insurrection does.

- We published a comprehensive analysis of federal law enforcement’s drastically different responses to the January 6th insurrection and the Black Lives Matter protests, after documents obtained by CREW revealed an FBI official wrongly equating the government responses.

- Following a jury declaring former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder guilty of an enormous $60 million racketeering conspiracy this month, we laid out three key takeaways from the trial and how it could affect how politicians and campaigns use nonprofits that aren’t required to disclose their donors.

We took action to call for proper oversight on both the state and federal level.

- We sent a letter to Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp urging him to oppose a state bill that would target and potentially undermine local prosecutors and suppress investigations—including Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’s ongoing investigation into efforts to overturn the state’s presidential election results in 2020.

- We also urged President Biden to take immediate steps to fill the vacant Inspector General position at the State Department—a crucial role in fighting waste, fraud, abuse and misconduct in the department, especially at a time when the department is leading efforts to protect U.S. national security interests across the world.
