Dear Fourth District Constituent,
Minnesota welcomed President Biden to our state on Monday, where he visited Cummins, Inc. in Fridley as part of his “Investing in America” tour. After his tour of a factory that will build technology to produce clean hydrogen, he gave a shout-out to Governor Walz and the state legislature for working to invest $500 million in state matching funds to complement federal funding I’ve secured for biomanufacturing and semiconductor production.
Our state has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be the center of a new U.S.-grown bioindustrial manufacturing economy, which will create sustainable products to help transition from our reliance on fossil fuels—while creating good-paying jobs of the future—right here in Minnesota.

Oversight Responsibilities
This week, as part of my role on the House Appropriations Committee, I conducted oversight visits to critical U.S. Indo-Pacific Command installations, and one of the largest environmental cleanup sites in Department of Defense history.
As Chair of the Defense Subcommittee last Congress, I worked to secure more than $1 billion in funds to begin the closure of the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage facility and ensure proper cleanup and safe drinking water for surrounding communities. It is imperative that the people nearby have clean and safe water to drink.

Neighborhood Office Hours Are Back!
In addition to serving constituents Monday through Friday, 9am–5pm, at my Saint Paul office, I’m pleased to announce that my staff will once again be holding constituent service hours at a variety of locations across the Fourth District.
These Neighborhood Office Hours are for residents who need assistance with a federal agency. My staff will be available to help answer questions, find information and resources, or address challenges relating to the federal government. Join us at Rondo Community Library next week to kick-off the return of Neighborhood Office Hours!

Standing for Justice
Earlier this week, for the first time ever, a former president was forced to turn himself in after being indicted on 34 felony counts in a business fraud scheme.
Our legal system must hold people accountable for crimes committed. No exception should be given for a twice-impeached former president—to do so would be to undermine the rule of law and our democracy. I stand on the side of justice and fairness over corruption and corrosion of our democratic values. As this case and other investigations continue, I believe that justice will prevail. No one is above the law.
Happy Passover and Easter to all those celebrating! As always, don’t hesitate to reach out with your policy opinion or if you need help with a federal agency. Thank you for being an informed and engaged constituent.
Sincerely,
Betty McCollum
Member of Congress
