Friend —
I know you've been hearing from my team a lot this week about our end of month goal, and I wanted to join in and thank you for your support. As we close out a busy January, I'm reflecting on the fight ahead.
For most of this month, I've been sitting at my Senate desk, participating in one of my most solemn duties as a U.S. Senator — the impeachment of Donald Trump. I've been focused on the state of our democracy, and the kind of country we want to leave our children. I entered the Senate to defend the things we all care about: access to healthcare, transparency in our government, and an economy that works for everyone.
Once this trial is over, it's go time. We've got to defend the progress we've already made and keep our Commonwealth blue.
We're heading into the most important campaign I've ever run, and it's going to be a tough one. The Trump campaign is building a massive ground game in Virginia that will support my opponent, whoever that ends up being. But the people I've met across Virginia give me hope — hope that we can start to turn our country around under a Democratic president and Democratic majorities in Congress.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for caring enough about what's happening in your communities to get out there and make a difference. I need your support to keep fighting for you in the U.S. Senate. Whether it's voting, volunteering, talking to friends and family, or supporting campaigns like mine — you're making a real change.
Thank you for staying in the fight with me. Let's get to work.
