Policy & Advocacy

SNAP Interviews Waived: There will be no SNAP interviews for the next year! To help with the unwinding of pandemic related flexibilities over the next year, Pennsylvania has been given the opportunity to waive SNAP interviews at application and recertification through March 30, 2024.

Taxes: Tax Day, Tuesday April 18, is less than two weeks away! There are many resources available to help file taxes in person or virtually, including Campaign for Working Families and the Philadelphia Taxpayer Assistance Center (located at 600 Arch St.), which will be open this Saturday, April 8th.

SNAP Text Messaging Scam: The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) recently warned SNAP participants about a texting scam. While DHS does send text messages, they will never ask for information about an EBT card, SNAP, Medicaid, or any other public assistance programs via random calls or texts. DHS messages will come from 1-833-648-1964.

SNAP Hotline In Action

We recently had a gentleman call our SNAP Hotline who was requesting help finding food pantries. As our SNAP Hotline Manager helped him, she found out that he was a returning citizen, and the only reason he was looking for food pantries was because he didn't think he was eligible for SNAP benefits. As it turns out, he was. We completed applications for both SNAP and medical benefits, and while the medical benefits are still pending, his SNAP benefits have been approved. He was so happy that someone was willing to learn more about him and go the extra mile to get him the benefits he didn't even know he qualified for.

Our SNAP Hotline team is here to help! Whether you're applying for or renewing benefits, our experienced counselors want to make the process as easy as possible for you.
