Workshop: Use of Storytelling as a Restorative Practice Tool to Unpack Intergenerational Trauma, and Capture Wisdom and Healing with Meghna Bhat, Ph.D.
Meghna Bhat, Ph.D. (she/her) is a renowned national gender and social justice consultant, educator, feminist scholar, and storyteller based in Sacramento, California. Born and raised in Mumbai, India, her lived experiences of gender violence and witnessing intergenerational cycles of trauma motivated her to be an outspoken social justice advocate. Dr. Bhat has 18+ years of extensive work experience in diverse settings centered in campus, organizations and communities.
Using creative, inclusive, accessible, and innovative tools such as storytelling, multidisciplinary art, and writing, she is committed to fostering narrative and social change and community dialogue about intergenerational cycles of abuse, trauma, and/or legacy and learning. Dr. Bhat is the creator and curator of Gulabi Stories: A South Asian Healing Initiative, which uses storytelling to address healing, health, etc within the larger South Asian diaspora community.
