Round furry bodies. Webbed back feet. Flat tails. Bucked teeth.

You got it, Friend. We’re talking about beavers -- because today is International Beaver Day

These semi-aquatic critters are more than just cute, fascinating animals that build their homes from scratch using twigs and logs. They’re also a keystone species responsible for maintaining healthy wetlands and fighting some of the worst impacts of the climate crisis.

But harmless little beavers are being MASSACRED by merciless hunters, with tens of thousands being slaughtered every year for their fur and meat. Unless we act NOW to protect these precious animals, they could be VIOLENTLY WIPED OUT forever. Please, Friend, beavers are counting on you to keep them safe this Beaver Day. Will you step up now and defend them before it’s too late?

Beavers promote robust wetland habitats that support biodiversity and absorb tons of global-warming carbon from our atmosphere. These essential ecosystems offer flood protection and shoreline erosion control, among other natural services that our planet’s well-being depends on.

Dams and ponds managed by beavers provide shelter for thousands of wildlife species, including many that are endangered. These beaver-made structures help keep soil moist to prevent droughts, act as natural firebreaks to stop the spread of wildfires, and even provide clean water for people

It’s no wonder these fascinating animals are known for being so BUSY!

Scientists have known for years the widespread benefits that beavers contribute to a sustainable planet and the vital role they play in mitigating climate change. But the federal government has FAILED to take bold action to protect beavers from vicious hunters -- and now, these ecosystem engineers are in critical danger.

We MUST demand urgent protections for these climate-solving superheroes while there’s still time left to save them, Friend. TAKE ACTION NOW: Tell President Biden to issue an executive order to BAN beaver hunting and trapping on our public wetlands immediately! >>

Thanks for your urgent action,
Friends of the Earth
