This afternoon, the Republican-controlled Tennessee House of Representatives voted to expel two of the #TennesseeThree Democrats who stood with students to demand action on school shootings.

Yes, you read that right: removed from office for political dissent.

Make no mistake: the expulsion of Rep. Jones and Rep. Pearson is an attempt to silence the voices calling out the GOP supermajority for their extreme agenda that is putting Tennessee students and families at risk. It's not lost on us that of the three resolutions of expulsion up for debate today, only those to expel young Black men passed.

Today's actions send a clear threat to Democrats fighting for the lives and dignity of their constituents in GOP-controlled states across the country.
