John – did you just see me on MSNBC?

I went on the air to discuss my former intern, Tennessee state Rep. Justin Jones, who Republicans just expelled from the state legislature for protesting for much-needed gun law reforms following the tragic shooting in Nashville.

Let me just say, I am so grateful and proud of Rep. Jones. He is a phenomenal young man and leader. His passion for freedom of speech and for saving lives from gun violence is admirable. I am deeply grateful for his efforts alongside state Reps. Gloria Johnson and Justin Pearson this past week.

Once again, the world is seeing that Republicans don't care about the lives and safety of our families and our children, nor do they respect the right of the people who duly elected these three legislators. It’s an attack on freedom of speech and an attack on our democracy.

That’s why it has never been more important that we recognize the GOP extremism sweeping our nation. Because it's not just morally bankrupt – it's un-democratic.

John, I remember vividly when I was arrested protesting apartheid in South Africa. For protesting genocide in Sudan. And for protesting the Dobbs decision. I knew I was standing on the right side of history.

And like my dear friend Rep. Jones, I refuse to let up in this fight for our freedom of speech and to protect our children and our democracy. That's why I'm running for Senate – to take on GOP extremism, protect our democracy and work to create a better, safer country for our children.

But that's precisely why MAGA extremists and Fox News have already launched a smear campaign to defeat me, and I need your immediate grassroots support to fight back: Please, John, will you rush $5 now to help me stand up and fight back against GOP extremism? We can't sit idly by as they strip away our fundamental rights.
