Last week, a right-wing judge (who made news a few years ago for striking down the Affordable Care Act on utterly baseless grounds) issued a devastating ruling. He invalidated a critical portion of the Affordable Care Act that has provided millions of Americans with free preventative care, including screenings for cancer and HIV.

This cruel decision overturns avenues of care that folks had relied on for nearly a decade. It's infuriating to see the courts — stacked with judges hand-picked by far-right groups like the Federalist Society — continue to roll back progress and make life harder and costlier for hard-working people.

Congress must immediately get to work to reverse the damage caused by this ruling, and we need to show Kevin McCarthy that we won't be quiet until he allows action.

Republicans have tried every trick in the book to weaken the Affordable Care Act. They failed at the ballot box to elect a majority that would repeal the law. They failed multiple times at the Supreme Court to have the law declared unconstitutional. But they haven't given up — and now they might be successful in gutting the Affordable Care Act one part at a time.
