** New Lawsuit to Stop Dredge Dump on Chicago’s Southeast Side ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
ELPC is representing the Alliance of the Southeast and Friends of the Parks in a federal lawsuit to stop the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from expanding a dredge dump site on Chicago’s Southeast Side. The lawsuit marks the latest salvo for ELPC, working with the two nonprofits, to push the Army Corps to do the right thing and find a better location for the toxic waste, away from the Lake Michigan shoreline & Southeast Side communities.
That land was promised long ago to the community to become a park for nearby residents and all Chicagoans to use and enjoy. Equally important, the location would add even more pollution to an Environmental Justice community, which is already experiencing an unfair and overburdened amount of pollution and health risks.

** Chicago Has a New Mayor: Fixing Public Transit Must Be a Top Priority ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
Chicago is facing multiple fundamental challenges, but global cities require public transit that works well. Inadequate public transit means more pollution and no “green city.” From staffing and safety to ridership and reliability, fixing transit challenges will require the mayor’s personal attention and significant political capital. Here’s where they should start.

** 30 Years of Advancing Fix-It-First Transportation Policy ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
ELPC has long advocated a fiscally responsible fix-it-first approach to highways. We've fought boondoggles such as “Hastert highway" and the Rt. 53 extension, which would have exacerbated sprawl, congestion, and carbon emissions at taxpayer expense. ELPC's Kevin Brubaker looks back on our work, and what it means for the future.

** Energy Experts Propose Alternative to DTE Energy Plan ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
ELPC joined a coalition of Michigan advocates offering a cleaner, more equitable alternative energy plan. The coalition filed intervenor testimony in DTE Energy’s Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), calling for a swift transition to renewable energy, closing the massive Monroe coal plant, and other solutions for a more reliable, sustainable utility.
