After a marathon session of Congressional amendments, the GOP narrowly passed H.R. 5 (118), despite heavy bipartisan opposition. This so-called “Parents Bill of Rights” would force trans kids to be outed against their will by their schools, putting even more pressure and stress on the most vulnerable in our society.
The GOP has passed similar anti-trans legislation in state legislatures across the country with the sole intention of making the lives of these kids as difficult as possible. Now, they’re taking these cruel measures to the national stage.
All the public health evidence suggests that these bills have detrimental impacts on the mental and physical well-being of the trans community, and yet the GOP ignores this evidence in favor of playing ideological games with the lives of our kids.
