John,
New York City is no exception to the current crisis of affordability. Every day we hear new accounts of unfathomable rent increases, predatory utility prices, and the increase of the cost of basic goods and services due to inflation.
But New York legislators like Jamaal and AOC are fighting back against this economic injustice by working with the NY State Assembly and State Senate to pass budget proposals that would freeze the MTA fare at $2.75 and begin a free bus pilot program in New York City. This means each borough will now have two free bus lines — 10 free buses across NYC!
Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani has worked with the State legislature to propose a budget that would increase the frequency and reliability of the MTA services and jumpstart the program to bring free buses into every borough. But in order to get this signed and passed by Governor Hochul, we need to build as much momentum and support as possible for this necessary resource.
Thank you for taking action and helping us get over the finish line, John. Together we're working to build a stronger, more inclusive community for New Yorkers and communities like ours everywhere.
In solidarity,
Bowman for Congress
