*LANSING, Mich. ?* Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the following appointments to the State Officers Compensation Commission, Board of Interpreters for the Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing, Human Trafficking Health Advisory Board, and State Board of Professional Surveyors.?

*State Officers Compensation Commission*?
?
Joan Bauer, of Lansing, is a former State Representative and Lansing City Council member and holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Western Michigan University. She also serves on the Michigan State Capitol Commission. Ms. Bauer is appointed for a term commencing April 6, 2023, and expiring January 1, 2025. She succeeds the late Vincent Gregory.?

The State Officers Compensation Commission shall determine the salaries and expense allowances of the members of the Legislature, the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, the Attorney General, the Secretary of State, and the Justices of the Supreme Court.??

Linda Sykora, of Battle Creek, is an administrator at DeafLINK, provider of accessible communication solutions for people with sensory disabilities who may be deaf, hard of hearing, blind, deaf-blind or literacy challenged. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Public Relations from Olivet College. Ms. Sykora is appointed to represent individuals who are deaf, deafblind or hard of hearing for a term commencing April 6, 2023 and expiring December 31, 2026. She succeeds Michael Depick whose term has expired.?

Rowan O'Dougherty, of Grand Rapids, is an adjunct professor and teaches deaf studies at Grand Valley State University. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Michigan State University. Mr. O?Dougherty is appointed to represent individuals who are deaf, deafblind or hard of hearing for a term commencing April 6, 2023 and expiring December 31, 2026. He succeeds Jahan Farzam Behboodi whose term has expired.?

James Cech, of Linden, is an ASL senior interpreter at Michigan Medicine. He holds a Bachelor in Sign Language studies from Madonna University. Mr. Cech is appointed to represent certified interpreters for a term commencing April 6, 2023 and expiring December 31, 2026. He succeeds Barbara Hinson whose term has expired.?

The Board of Interpreters for the Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing was created to help streamline the sign language interpreter certification process and will advise the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs on all matters related to the certification of interpreters and the administration of the Deaf Persons? Interpreters Act.??

Dena Nazer, of Detroit, is Medical Director and Child Abuse Pediatrician for Kids TALK Children?s Advocacy Center Medical Clinic. She holds a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Jordan. Dr. Nazer is appointed to represent represents individuals licensed to practice under part 170 or 175 and recommended by the Senate Majority Leader, for a term commencing April 6, 2023 and expiring December 31, 2026. Dr. Nazer will also serve as chair for a term expiring at the pleasure of the Governor. She is succeeding Subburaman Sivakumar whose term has expired.?

Jessica Glynn, of Kalamazoo, is?Senior Director of Law and Policy and Managing Attorney at YWCA Kalamazoo. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Ecology and Sociology from the College of the Atlantic and a Juris Doctorate from City University of New York School of Law. Ms. Glynn is appointed to represent individuals with experience and expertise in the field of intervention in or prevention of human trafficking or treatments of human trafficking survivors for a term commencing April 6, 2023 and expiring December 31, 2026. She is succeeding Jayashree Kommareddi whose term has expired.??

Sheila Meshinski, of Macomb, is?an Educator for the Emergency Department Nursing Staff at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing from Nazareth College. Mrs. Meshinksi is reappointed to represent registered professional nurses with experience in an emergency department, emergency room, or trauma center of a hospital, for a term commencing April 6, 2023 and expiring December 31, 2026.??

Moqeem Syed, of West Bloomfield, is a category implementation manager at Ford Motor Company. He holds a Master of Engineering from Wayne State University and a Bachelor's degree from Osmania University. Mr. Syed is appointed to represent the general public for a term commencing April 6, 2023 and expiring March 31, 2026. He succeeds Andrew Kurncz whose term has expired.?

Shantaram Ekhande, of Grand Blanc, is a retired global simulation owner at General Motors. He holds a Doctorate and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Windsor and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Pune in India. Mr. Ekhande is appointed to represent the general public for a term commencing April 6, 2023 and expiring December 31, 2025. He succeeds Sharmay Wood who has resigned.?

James Hollandsworth, of Riverview, is a professional surveyor and engineer licensed in the State of Michigan and works as an engineering and land surveying manager at Hennessey Engineer. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Detroit Mercy and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in Land Surveying from Michigan Technological University. Mr. Hollandsworth is reappointed to represent professional surveyors for a term commencing April 6, 2023 and expiring March 31, 2027.?

Jennifer Myers, of Troy, is a Senior Building Infrastructure Engineer at Oakland University. She holds a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Tulane University and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Wayne State University. Ms. Myers is reappointed to represent the Michigan Board of Architects for a term commencing April 6, 2023 and expiring March 31, 2027.?

The Board of Professional Surveyors was created to license and regulate the practice of land surveying in Michigan. Article 20 defines a professional surveyor as a person who by reason of knowledge of law, mathematics, physical sciences, and techniques of measuring land acquired by professional education and practical experience is qualified to engage in the practice of professional surveying. The Board works with LARA to oversee the practice of professional surveyors.?
