The use of plastics in agriculture (commonly called ‘agriplastics’) may account for just 3.5 per cent of annual global plastic usage, but the pollution caused is devastating and extends far beyond farms. In a new series of reports, EIA takes a step back to outline what agriplastics are and who is responsible for finding solutions to tackle the environmental and human health harm they cause – and finds that little is being done by the UK’s major supermarkets and the Government to address the issue..

With fewer than 10 vaquita porpoises remaining in the world, CITES has finally gotten tough with Mexico to compel it to protect the critically endangered creatures, suspending all commercial trade in specimens of CITES-listed species with the country.

Thousands of common dolphins in the Bay of Biscay will be saved from entanglement and death in fishing gear after a French court ruled that current measures in place to prevent this were inadequate and ordered the establishment of no-fishing zones.
