My cousin, Alex, was sitting at his desk in English class when a vicious gunman rampaged his school, stealing his life and 16 others.

The shooting lasted a few minutes -- but for me and my family, the aftermath is never ending.

Here’s the truth: The sole reason the shooter took so many lives in such a short period of time is because he legally purchased an AR-15.

Since then I’ve flown to D.C. countless times with other family members impacted by mass shootings.

We met with dozens of Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill. We cried our eyes out while retelling our nightmares.

But nothing we said moved them and they continue to drag their feet and block critical reforms.

I didn’t join this fight until after gun violence personally affected my life. Don’t be like me. Don’t wait until it’s too late.

That’s why I'm personally asking you to chip in $15 before midnight. Republican lawmakers aren’t even trying to hide their disregard for our lives. They won’t take action unless we show up in RECORD numbers like never before every single year, not just in the wake of a mass shooting. Republicans are hoping that we’ll forget and move on.

They’re hoping we’ll forget about the 17 students and educators slaughtered in Parkland.

They’re hoping we’ll forget about the 19 students slaughtered in Uvalde.

They’re hoping we’ll forget about the 3 nine-year-olds slaughtered in Nashville.

I need your help to show these lawmakers we will NEVER forget, we will never move on, and we will never back down.

If we want to stand a chance of succeeding, it’s time to get off the sidelines and stop waiting for someone else to solve this problem. It’s up to us to unapologetically DEMAND that our lawmakers stop the proliferation of assault weapons that have been used to mow down dozens of our peers in mere seconds.
