Voter ID needed for this year’s local elections

If you don’t have the right ID to vote in the May elections, then you will not be able to vote in person.

After the first successful drop-in session to help residents get free voter ID to vote in the May elections, we are hosting another one on Saturday 15 April in Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre, 10am to 3pm.

If you are not able to attend, you can drop into one of Oldham Libraries at any time and they can help you get online and fill the form in. They can also take your picture. You need your national insurance number to complete the registration and you must be registered to vote - but they can help you with this too.

Alternatively, you can apply directly on the Government website

The deadline for voter registration closes at midnight on Monday 17 April.

The names of candidates standing in the local elections on Thursday 4 May are now available on our website
No changes to bin collections

We’re just reminding you that bin collections will be as going ahead as normal on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Please put your correct bins out so our teams can collect them.

Arkwright Street Household Recycling Centre will be open during the Easter bank holidays. To check the times of the centre and what you can recycle, visit the Recycle for Greater Manchester Website
Why not explore the Oldham Way this Easter?

Whether you’re a veteran hiker or a novice, the Oldham Way offers something for everyone, and the Easter Holidays is a perfect time to explore the landscape.

Those with walking experience can comfortably navigate all of its highs and lows in a couple of days, while families and those new to its tracks might want to explore one of the seven recommended routes.

Take a look at some of the favourite routes and walks around Dunwood Park, Diggle and many more.

We have included a link to the All Trails app, which has a live feed of weather updates, alternative walks and routes.

Whatever your experience level, remember to wear decent footwear, carry water, keep dogs on a lead and check the weather forecast – particularly on the routes that take you high up on the moors.

Make a healthy start today and apply for a Healthy Start Card

If you’re more than 10 weeks pregnant or have children under 4, you may be able to get help with the cost of healthy food, milk and vitamins.

Apply for a Healthy Start card on the NHS website and you’ll be sent a pre-paid card that can be used to buy fruit and veg, milk and first infant formula from most places that sell them.

You can split the cost of your items between your bank card/cash and Healthy start card. Your card will be topped up every four weeks and the payments will be made until your child turns 4.
