The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) is sponsoring a virtual workshop on April 25?26, 2023, presented by the National Academies' Committee on National Statistics (CNSTAT). BJS Director Alex Piquero, Principal Deputy Director Kevin Scott, and Unit Chiefs Richard Kluckow and Alexia Cooper will participate. Workshop participants will discuss?strategies to measure death by suicide of law enforcement and correctional officers. BJS?and CNSTAT worked together to define specific topics to be addressed and to develop the agenda. BJS is funding this workshop in part to fulfill a congressional reporting requirement to collect data on law enforcement officer suicides. Director Piquero will provide the opening remarks and Principal Deputy Director Scott will provide the closing remarks.
