Your legislators need to hear from you today. The Preakness Stakes and Kentucky Derby horse races are just weeks away. And while people gather to watch and celebrate these majestic horses, many people have no idea that thousands of horses—even racehorses—are suffering out of sight. These horses are on their way to slaughter—and it must end now!

Please take a stand for innocent horses and tell your legislators to support reintroduction of the Save America’s Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act to stop this killing.

American horses destined for slaughter are forced into cramped trailers without proper food or water, and transported hundreds of miles to Canada or Mexico.There, these animals are cruelly killed for their meat.

Many of the horses would have enjoyed long, happy lives ahead of them if they were given a chance. You can help give horses that chance by urging your legislators to support reintroduction of the SAFE Act right now. The SAFE Act would permanently ban horse slaughter in the United States and make it illegal to export American horses for slaughter.

Please take a moment for the horses who don’t make the limelight—who are suffering and destined for slaughter. Urge your legislators to support reintroduction of the SAFE Act and protect our nation’s equines TODAY!
