Our children are in peril. Just recently, a 6-year-old boy in Norristown brought a loaded — and illegally obtained — gun to school after seeing his 10-year-old brother playing with it, pretending to shoot him.¹ The consequences for this boy, and his classmates, were so close to being tragic. We need to ensure guns in the home are stored safely to protect our children and our communities. 

Send a message now to urge your State Representative to support safe gun storage legislation. Then follow up with a phone call to their office to significantly increase your advocacy impact.

Representative Tim Briggs has proposed a safe storage bill, a crucial measure that would require gun owners to securely store their firearms in a locked container or equipped with a trigger lock when not in use if there is a child living in the home. Without safe storage, we will continue to see children die by the hands of their siblings, classmates, and even their own hands, unintentionally. We will continue to expand the ranks of brokenhearted families and communities.  

Children and teens are more likely to die by guns than any other cause.² This horrific statistic is unacceptable and we have a way to prevent further tragedies: the safe storage bill is a critical step toward protecting our communities from the devastating effects of gun violence. 

Please take action and urge your representative to co-sponsor Rep. Briggs’ legislation.
