Dear John, I am thrilled to share with you that our video "Voices from the Favelas" has been shortlisted for the World Health Organisation's Health for All Film Festival Award! Our video highlights the urgent need for equitable access to vaccines. Detailing how the unequal distribution of vaccines during the Covid-19 pandemic, disproportionately impacted the world's most marginalised communities. The video provided an opportunity for people living in disadvantaged ‘favela’ communities in Rio de Janeiro to share their experience of the pandemic. We then took their messages to the UN, showing politicians, activists and global leaders from around the world the real impact of vaccine inequity! Being shortlisted for this award is a significant recognition of our efforts, and we could not have achieved this without your support. Your support, from sharing the video to your networks to donating, has been instrumental in amplifying our message. The winners of the Health for All Film Festival Award will be announced by the WHO's Secretary General at a ceremony in May, and we will keep you posted on the outcome. Regardless of the results, we are grateful for this recognition and proud to be part of this global movement for vaccine justice. Thank you once again for your support, and we hope that you will continue to stand with us as we strive to stop healthcare being denied. In solidarity, Samuel Spong |
