Hello Friend,

We have important news concerning gun bills during the 82nd Legislative
Session, [ [link removed] ]AB355, [ [link removed] ]AB354, and [ [link removed] ]SB171 will ALL be heard in a joint
hearing of the Senate and Assembly Judiciary Committees on April 6th at
2PM.

These bills are needed steps toward strengthening our existing laws and
enacting gun violence prevention laws that will protect Nevadans. Senate
Bill 171 ([ [link removed] ]SB171) updates our hate crimes laws by prohibiting the
purchase of a firearm for up to 10 years post-conviction of a hate crime.
Currently, someone convicted of a gross misdemeanor hate crime can still
purchase, own, and possess a firearm. We do not think that is right and
that is why we are supporting Senator Harris’ bill to address this issue.

Assembly Majority Leader Sandra Jauregui has an omnibus bill, Assembly
Bill 354 ([ [link removed] ]AB354) that will prevent people from bringing guns to
election sites, polling locations, and ballot tabulation centers. In
addition, this bill will clarify language from the 81st Legislative
Session concerning the ghost gun bill (AB286). Finally, Assembly Majority
Leader Jauregui is sponsoring Assembly Bill 355 ([ [link removed] ]AB355) which raises
the purchase age of assault weapons to 21. These measures are crucial to
ensuring voters feel safe when they cast their ballot, people aren’t
purchasing unserialized firearms, and addressing the age requirements for
assault weapons. We need your help to get ALL of these bills across the
finish line!
