This is a shocking announcement that will have a real effect on Roy’s ability to hold his vetoes of dangerous legislation. It’s clear now how high the stakes are in 2024. North Carolina is a true swing state, but to prevent a radical shift toward the right, Democrats must win everywhere. We must not only hold the Governor’s office but also break the supermajorities in Raleigh — and we have to prepare NOW.

John, we will not lose faith in our ability to protect against the worst impulses of the radical right wing. The representative who is switching parties has been a strong advocate for many Democratic priorities — including abortion rights, voter protections, public schools, and LGBTQ+ rights.
