Here are some updates from the last few days.

Today, North Carolina Democratic state Rep. Tricia Cotham confirmed reports that she is joining the Republican Party, giving the GOP a veto-proof supermajority in both chambers of the Legislature.

Yesterday, Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Janet Protasiewicz won the race for the open seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. In doing so, she flipped the balance of the court from a 4-3 conservative majority to a 4-3 liberal majority.

Also yesterday, Idaho Gov. Brad Little (R) signed a bill tightening proof of ID and residency requirements needed to register to vote.

On Thursday, March 30, the Texas Senate’s State Affairs Committee advanced multiple anti-voting bills to the Senate floor. The bills impact multiple aspects of elections in the Lone Star State, including in-person voting, election irregularities and voter purges.

Also, the U.S. Department of Justice has filed a brief urging the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to affirm a lower court ruling that grants a civil rights group access to Alabama's records about voter registrations that were canceled and denied since 2020.
