Food systems solutions are critical to stopping these catastrophic climate outcomes

John, the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) just sounded the alarm for food production.

Their latest report details that between rising temperatures, widespread drought, and record flooding, climate change’s impact on our food supply is reaching a detrimental crescendo point.

The consensus is clear: Food systems solutions like the conservation programs outlined in our Farm Bill are critical to stopping these catastrophic climate outcomes.

“There is a rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a livable and sustainable future for all,” the authors write. “The choices and actions implemented in this decade will have impacts now and for thousands of years.” — IPCC, Sixth Assessment Report: Climate Change 2023

John, when it comes to taking action, we’re walking where we should be sprinting.

Why? Because Republicans in Congress would rather continue exploiting our farmlands and raking in the profit than doing what’s necessary to protect our climate — and our food supply.

Our SEEC Members know the consequences of inaction are dire, John. That’s why they’re refusing to let Republicans like Chuck Grassley water-down the critical conservation programs included in the 2023 Farm Bill — but we need your support now more than ever to ensure our bill is signed into law with all its climate-saving programs intact.

Our window of opportunity is narrow, but it’s still open. With a President who has committed to significantly curbing greenhouse gas emissions and investing in cost-effective climate solutions, like wind and solar energy, we can reverse this dangerous trajectory — but we need to act immediately.

Join SEEC’s fight to protect our climate and ensure a sustainable food supply by pledging your support with a quick contribution today. Every dollar we raise goes toward electing pro-environment leaders who are committed to prioritizing our planet above profit, and people over corporate polluters.

Thanks to your help in 2022, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 118th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future.
