Hi ACLU Supporter --

Right now, one-half of the Democratic presidential field is gearing up for debate night part two, practicing their best one-liners as we speak. But here's some real talk: catchy slogans aren't enough to protect civil rights and liberties. In 2020, we must demand a president who will defend rights for all, and make clear commitments to do so.

Pledge to vote for a candidate who will uphold our civil rights and liberties -- regardless of party.

Together, our nationwide movement to hold candidates accountable has already accomplished a lot. So far, we have:

- Trained and equipped 671 volunteers with the tools they need to hold candidates accountable
- Asked candidates 323 questions on civil rights and liberties
- Got 55 commitments from candidates to uphold our values -- on the record
- Attended 307 candidate events across the country
- Received 9 completed questionnaires from candidates (you can see them here: [link removed])

And we're just getting started.

You've probably seen our volunteers in action. Rights for All voters got Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden on the record on the Hyde amendment -- and shifted Biden's position on abortion access. Another volunteer asked Bernie Sanders about voting rights and sparked a national conversation about guaranteeing the right to vote for all citizens, including incarcerated people. Pete Buttigieg has called us out by name at his events, because everywhere he goes he finds another ACLU voter. Republican candidate Bill Weld has committed to an ACLU volunteer to expand transgender rights. All across the country, we're getting candidates to make their positions clear on reproductive freedom, immigrant justice, criminal justice reform, voting rights, and more.

Already, we've pushed candidates to take stronger positions on some of the most important issues. Now we're asking you to help us make an even bigger impact.

Take the pledge and we'll keep you up to speed on candidate events, volunteer trainings, and the latest news on our efforts.
