It is time to pass the REAADI Act!

The Real Emergency Access for Aging and Disability Inclusion for Disasters (REAADI) Act provides solutions for persons with disabilities and older adults during the ever-increasing number of disasters in the United States. The REAADI Act will enable persons to maintain their health, safety, and independence before, during, and after disasters.

PandA Podcast: Is There a Doctor in the Pod?

NDRN's new Community Relations Specialist Raquel Rosa joins us on this one, as we sit down with some of our friends from the Arc of Massachusetts to talk about Operation House Call. Maura Sullivan and Jonathan Gardner explain how the program teaches medical and nursing students about treating patients with disabilities with respect and sensitivity to improve outcomes for all involved. Then med student and future pediatrician Naaz Daneshvar talks about getting her university to adopt Operation House Call as part of their curriculum. Access our podcast here.

Is the Web Accessible to You?

As many people with disabilities know, far too many websites are inaccessible. This reality is disastrous for Americans with disabilities. We live in a world where so much is done online or through our smartphones. When these applications are inaccessible, people with disabilities are prevented from completing essential tasks such as banking or completing employment tasks. NDRN and a group of national disability advocacy organizations are collecting personal anecdotes and stories to illustrate this ongoing and growing problem. Learn how to participate in this project here.
