Today, more than two dozen young leaders will lead a Texting Day of Action to help drive ICE out of Harris County, Texas.
Why is this so important? ICE’s involvement in Harris County puts immigrants at risk of intimidation, detention, and even deportation. But Harris County is only working with ICE on a voluntary basis, and can end their agreement whenever they want.
That’s why Squad members will distribute petitions and help get signatures calling on Harris County — the largest county in Texas — to end their cooperation with ICE.
Driving ICE out of Harris County will be the Squad’s first major action of 2023, but they have even more in store to fight back against anti-immigration policies and keep our communities safe.
