John,
The attention may be moving away from East Palestine, Ohio, but that does not mean Norfolk Southern should.
Ohio residents are still dealing with the damage after the train containing carcinogenic chemicals derailed in February and caused toxic chemicals to leach into the air and pollute nearby streams. Because the cargo on the train wasn’t considered “high-hazardous material," Norfolk Southern wasn’t required to notify the state of the train’s contents. Now, the people of East Palestine and surrounding communities will face the consequences far into the future.
That’s why Ohioans deserve Norfolk Southern’s dedication to cleaning up this mess for the years to come. Will you sign our petition today calling on Norfolk Southern to remain accountable for dealing with their disaster? [[link removed]]
DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY » [[link removed]]Even months after the fire’s fallout, East Palestine residents are still living in a “toxic soup” of chemicals like ethylhexyl, vinyl chloride, and butyl acrylate. To this day, they are hesitant to drink their tap water or even breathe the air within their homes.
The long-term exposure effects on humans to these chemicals are still widely unknown. This means that cleaning up this mess will take years of research and support to ensure the victims of this environmental disaster are cared for.
But Norfolk Southern isn’t interested in doing that. That’s why we need to lift up our voices and demand Norfolk Southern remain committed to Ohioans. Will you add your name to keep Norfolk Southern accountable for the damage they’ve done in East Palestine? [[link removed]]
