Tell Congress: Support the
Environmental Justice for All Act

For far too long, communities of color and low-wealth communities have been hit hardest by pollution and the climate crisis. Congress has the opportunity to use federal policy to empower these communities by addressing environmental racism, ensuring communities have a say in the development of local federal projects, providing funds for urban parks, and more.

Tell Congress to act to rectify historical environmental racism.
Pass the Environmental Justice for All Act.

GOAL: 5,000 Actions
TAKE ACTION

Friend — right now, Congress has a historic opportunity to address generations of systemic and persistent environmental racism directed at communities of color and low-wealth communities, while empowering those communities to protect against further harms.

The A. Donald McEachin Environmental Justice for All Act — one of the first environmental policies drafted in collaboration with affected communities — has just been reintroduced. The bill’s name honors the late Congressman Donald McEachin of Virginia, a long-standing champion for environmental justice, who passed away last November.

The legislation would prohibit projects that have a disparate environmental impact on the basis of race, color, or national origin. It would also require federal agencies to evaluate together all the air and water pollution facing environmental justice communities and take protective actions, while also providing funding for urban parks. Finally, in addition to these important anti-racist policies, this sweeping environmental justice legislation would ensure that community input is central to the development of all new energy projects.

It is critical that Congress acts to address long-standing inequities in our environmental safeguards and empower communities to protect against pollution. Take action today: demand that your representatives co-sponsor the Environmental Justice for All Act.

Justice is long overdue for communities of color and low-wealth communities experiencing a disproportionate share of pollution and climate degradation. For one of the first times in U.S. history, communities that have long been excluded from policymaking are now at the table, collaborating with elected officials and leading the conversations to craft this critical legislation.

It is imperative that Congress continue to listen to their voices by passing the Environmental Justice for All Act and prioritizing equitable solutions that reduce pollution in overburdened communities and strengthen communities’ right to protect themselves against environmental racism.

Help us reach 5,000 signatures demanding action on environmental racism. Tell your member of Congress to cosponsor and push for passage of the Environmental Justice for All Act to address and prevent environmental inequities, make our communities safer, and provide more outdoor opportunities in historically underserved urban areas.

Congress must finally seize this opportunity to listen to communities impacted by environmental racism and collaborate on solutions to address inequities. This will be the first of many steps to address these long-standing injustices.

Thank you for standing with environmental justice communities and advocates.

Onward,
