I will update you over the coming weeks on the work I am doing on the Budget and the other issues before the Arlington County Board. Today I want to share a special event coming up on Saturday April 15th for Commonwealth's Attorney Parisa Dehghani-Tafti.

Parisa is the Commonwealth's Attorney for Arlington and Falls Church and she is seeking re-election in the June Democratic Primary. Brooke and I are hosting an event for Parisa on April 15th from 4:30 to 6:00 pm, and we are excited to be joined by a very special guest: Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan. Parisa Dehghani-Tafti, Commonwealth's Attorney for Arlington County and the City of Falls Church.
Parisa has followed through on the promises she made in 2019 to reform the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office to focus on criminal justice consistent with our community's values. She is focused on prosecuting serious crimes that jeopardize the safety, welfare, and well-being of the community. I worked with her to set up a mental health docket that diverts individuals from jail. She also has ended cash bail and reformed our legal discovery system.

Over the last four years Parisa has led our chief prosecutorial office, aligning our Commonwealth's Attorney's Office with Arlington's ideals with respect to criminal and racial justice. I strongly support her re-election.

Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan is an outstanding leader on educational equity, climate, housing, and income inequality. She is also the first African-American woman to serve in Congress from the Commonwealth of Virginia. We are very lucky to have her join the effort to re-elect Parisa.
