Hello!
This will be a longer email that I wanted to use as an opportunity to update you on happenings in Congress, from our office, but also to peel back the curtain on what I’m up to when I’m not in D.C.
Last month, our family be celebrated THREE birthdays, with my mother celebrating her 80th and the twins both celebrating their 8th!
The girls and I love to go hiking out in the beautiful desert with Blue in tow, and those hikes really drive home how important it is to protect our environment for future generations.
Not only are these areas a boon for our local economy, but they add to the spirit of our community. And this is personal for me, team. If we don’t address the environmental & public health concerns of our region, then my daughters may not be able to go on hikes with their kids one day.
I sat down with Comité CÃvico del Valle and Audubon California to talk about this exact issue.
On the topic of public health, my team and I have been busy this month meeting with various health care leaders and organizations to address how we can work together to improve access to healthcare in our communities.
I met with leaders from National Association of Community Health Centers, Partners In Health, National Association of Community Health Workers, and Vision y Compromiso to discuss how we can not only improve access and outcomes, but also support the dedicated healthcare workers who are doing the work on the ground.
I will say, it was a nice break from other happenings in Washington, where we held our first hearing of the Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic. In that hearing, I was sickened to see that the GOP invited a witness who has peddled racist, faux-scientific theories that have been publicly praised by white supremacists, including David Duke.
Now, Republicans are coming after me for calling out their bogus conspiracies for what they are, and asking why they called on a witness whose work has been praised by white supremacists.
You know, unlike other members of Congress, I don’t have all day to spend on the phone and beg mega-donors for campaign checks. I’m too busy fighting for our public health, to ensure we keep our drinking water safe, and do more to protect our environment.
So, can I count on you to chip in just $8 or another amount today? Your donation will help our campaign stay ahead of GOP attacks so we can return to Congress and keep fighting for you »
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Thank you for reading all the way to the end, friend. I can't thank you enough for all your support.
