John, we’re in a knock-down, drag-out fight for our future and El Paso is taking center stage.

This year has already been a tough one, from President Biden approving the Willow Project and a giant project in the Gulf Coast, to the latest IPCC report highlighting just how short our window is to address climate change.

That’s why we need to make sure that we win the El Paso Climate Charter.

The El Paso Climate Charter is an ambitious, first-of-its-kind climate justice project which would establish a Green New Deal program in the border community of El Paso, Texas. It proposes to amend the city’s “charter” — the main governing document of the city — by establishing a climate department to tackle the climate crisis in our community. We think of it as a “climate constitution” that proposes a MASSIVE shift in our municipal government towards climate justice.

We’ve already talked to over THOUSANDS of El Pasoans. And what we found was that the people of El Paso, like millions of Americans, want bold, ambitious, Green New Deal policies.

Now, here’s the scary thing, John. We clearly have the people behind us, but you can bet that Big Oil and fossil fuel companies are going to use millions in their corporate money (and really every trick in the book) to attack our campaign and do everything they can to stop this charter from passing.

Texas is Big Oil’s backyard. If we can win here, we can win anywhere.

We have about a month to organize — it’s crunch time. Getting out the vote is critical to passing this Charter and winning critical climate legislation for El Paso.
