Today was a day for the record books: never in the history of the United States of America has a former President been indicted and charged with a federal crime. We need to let that sink in for a moment.
A President was arrested today. 200 years from now, historians will talk about today and more importantly, they will study and analyze how we responded. We do not know what the future will hold for us, but we do know what we can control in the present.
John, today Donald J Trump reclaimed his throne at the top of the Republican Party. The more charges that were read, the more unified the GOP became. We hear rumblings here and there about former VP Mike Pence stepping up and challenging Trump, and I know that's never going to happen. Pence is spineless, lacks any shred of charisma, and will be railroaded by Trump in a debate setting. This is the party of Trump, and what a sad state of affairs we find ourselves in.
At No Dem Left Behind, we spend our days strategizing on how we talk to Republicans and Independents and how we can get them to agree with us and vote blue. This is not always easy, but today we have several solid arguments we can make that they will agree with us on:
1.) If you commit a crime, you should be held accountable, plain and simple.
2.) If you have abused a position of power and authority to protect yourself from repercussions, you should be held accountable.
3.) If you are the leader of our country, you should not also be in the middle of legal battles, lawsuits, and criminal charges.
4.) If you incite an insurrection, you shouldn't be able to hold office.
I am not celebrating today, because today should have never happened. Trump set our country back decades. His policies were more horrific than he is as a person. He relaxed regulations that cost our country, he dismissed Covid, and tens of thousands of people died that could have been saved. He mocked climate change and undid years of progress. He is personally responsible for the rise of hate in this country. The list goes on and on.
Despite all of that, we survived and we are doing what we normally do after a Republican administration leaves the White House; we are rebuilding and undoing all of their wrongs.
We simply cannot take this moment for granted and we cannot underestimate Trump and the MAGA cesspool again. We have to have our people in place on the ground and working in every corner of this country.
John, I am asking you today to join us as we defeat not just Trump but Trumpism and the MAGA cult once and for all.
