[1]U.S. Senator Chris Murphy

I’m reaching out just to say thank you.

I know I asked a lot of this team before last week’s FEC deadline, and I’m really proud of what we accomplished.

While we’re still adding up the final numbers, it’s safe to say we beat our goal and are going to start this cycle in a strong position. I’ll post the numbers on Twitter as soon as we have them.

There’s no doubt that our numbers will send an unmistakable message about the strength of this movement and the incredible foundation of grassroots support for my re-election.

Yes, there will be significant challenges ahead. The gun lobby, Republican super PACs and corporate interests like Big Oil and Big Pharma are breathing down my neck. They are desperate to flip the Senate back into Mitch McConnell’s control. Before we know it, they will have a hand-picked opponent.

So what matters now is that we prepare for whatever comes our way. That means making important investments in our organizing and communication infrastructure. What we’ve seen more and more in recent years is that these early and ongoing investments pay massive dividends. It makes it much harder for a super PAC or self-funding billionaire to swoop in at the last minute with limitless sums of cash to try to buy the election.

We are building a true grassroots movement here — powered entirely by people without a dime of PAC or corporate money. Doing this the right way matters. It makes a real difference in how our democracy works — and who it works for.

Together, we are going to win and continue shifting power back to the people and away from the special interests and corporations that profit off of a broken status quo.

Every best wish,

Chris Murphy
