We've said it before and will repeat it: one of our top priorities in 2023 is flipping the Kentucky Attorney General seat. This is a critical race on so many issues we care about: keeping the public safe, protecting reproductive rights, and defending our trans youth and LGBTIA+ communities.
The far-right anti-abortion group Kentucky Right To Life has already endorsed GOP AG candidate Russell Coleman. He recently got an endorsement from Donald Trump's Attorney General William Barr, who weaponized the justice system against our communities. And now out-of-touch Kentucky elected officials overturned Governor Andy Beshear’s veto of a dangerous anti-trans bill.
This attack on the trans community is particularly scary – the bill takes away parents’ freedoms to make medical decisions for their kids, and turns our educators against our kids.
These developments are a sign of how serious the other side is taking this election, but we can't let that deter us. We must stay focused on electing a progressive Attorney General in Kentucky who will fight for justice and protect the rights of all citizens.
